Dynamo

Gerard Butler seems to be back in the news as of late, as today we’re learning he will be staring in the upcoming adaptation of Dynamo: Defending the Honour of Kiev from Andy Dougan. Dynamo: Defending the Honour of Kiev is based on the true story of “the landmark soccer game that took place between an occupied Ukrainian soccer team and their Nazi captors during World War II.” Gerard Butler will play Nikolai Trusevich who was the inspiration and goalie of the team. Production for DYNAMO: DEFENDING THE HONOUR OF KIEV is supposed to start sometime next year in Europe.

'Motor City' Shuts Down Production

Gerard Butler's upcoming film Motor City has shut down production before filming even started on the flick. “Faced with the realities of a very short post-production schedule and complicated visual and special effects, the producers have decided to push back production on Albert Hughes’ Motor City,” a spokesperson for the film told Deadline. “The circumstances surrounding this project made it impossible to meet the firm March 31st delivery date without compromising the quality of the film.” Motor City had been in pre-production before the producers sent the crew packing after learning that Warner Bros. release date for the film would allow only 12 weeks of post-production, which was not feasible. The producers reportedly hope to go forward with the film in the future.

Manhunt

Gerard Butler may be starring in another action thriller! The 42-year-old Scottish stud is in talks to star in Manhunt, set to begin production at the end of the year, Deadline reports. Synopsis: “A team of FBI agents [are] sent to the North Carolina wilderness to chase the FBI’s most wanted man, domestic terrorist and survivalist James Tollan, who has eluded arrest with the support of the local population while attacking the federal government. They enroll the help of a reluctant bear hunter to capture the killer. But once the team enters the woods, the hunters become the hunted as Tollan will stop at nothing to survive and defend his territory.”

Motor City

Gerard Butler is in negotiations with Warner Bros. and Dark Castle to star in a new movie "Motor City". He would star alongside Amber Heard and Gary Oldman (the principal villain).

A New Movie

Gerard Butler will star in a Ridley Scott directed film about ex-British Army officer Simon Mann, who in 2004 tried to overthrow the president of Equatorial Guinea with a group of mercenaries. Mann was arrested in Zimbabwe, spent five years in prison there, and then taken to Guinea, where he was sentenced to 34 more years, until a presidential pardon set him free. Butler has switched gears from romcoms to action films over the past few years, and this next flick aligns itself with that continued trend.

No More 300

Gerard Butler is not that eager on the idea of making a sequel for the movie 300.

He thinks that it would be impossible for him to get back in shape for the role.

According ShowbizSpy, the Ugly Truth actor admits training for the first flick was “torture” — and he doesn’t really want to have to do it again.

“I don’t know if I can ever get back in that kind of shape because I was ridiculous in that movie. I don’t think I’d be capable of that again.

“I know there is still talk of another 300 movie but I’m not sure if I have what it takes to torture myself like that again.”

Afterburn

Gerard Butler is in talks to star in the sci-fi action movie Afterburn, reports Deadline.

Brooklyn's Finest director Antoine Fuqua has also entered negotiations to board the project, which is based on the comic book from Canadian publisher Red 5.

The movie takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth that has been destroyed by a solar flare. Butler will lead a group of treasure hunters who return to the scorched planet to capture valued items such as the Mona Lisa and the Crown Jewels.

A Man Apart writer Christian Gudegast will rework the script, while Tobey Maguire and Neal Moritz are attached as producers.

A Soccer Dad

The LA Times reports that Gerard Butler is in talks to star in “Slide,” a movie about a dad coaching his son’s soccer team. Gabriele Muccino (responsible for Will Smith’s “Seven Pounds” and “Pursuit of Happyness”) is supposed to be interested in directing, although there may be schedule conflicts. Robbie Fox wrote the screenplay.

The project was originally conceived as a baseball movie, but the immense worldwide interest in this year's World Cup has producers rethinking which sport they'll focus on.

Originally titled "Confessions of a Little League Coach," the comedy concerns a father with a dubious past who tries to make up for lost time by coaching his son's Little League teams. He finds himself in hot water after some of the local mothers show a romantic interest in him, which he no doubt reciprocates.

Butler was originally only on board as a producer and now it seems Butler will star in the film as well. Butler will produce the film alongside Kevin Misher and Surrogates director Jonathan Mostow.

Slide comes to theaters in 2012.

IRA movie

Gerard Butler will film a new IRA movie in Dublin this summer.

A Star Is Born

Gerard Butler is rumored to star as the male lead in the proposed remake of A Star Is Born. Russell Crowe was being considered for the male lead, but no offer has been made and he may move on to other projects before one can be extended. The only sure thing is director Nick Cassavetes, who was inadvertently confirmed as director back in February by Star's screenwriter, Will Fetters.

Shooting at Dawn

Gerard Butler was in front of cameras as early as half past six in the morning shooting scenes from "Coriolanus" in Belgrade. The area around the KPGT and the old Sugar plant was a forbidden zone during the whole day.

Priyanka Chopra’s Husband

Rumor has it Gerard Butler will play Priyanka Chopra’s husband in Vishal Bhardawaj’s movie Saat Khoon Maaf.
Priyanka and Gerard share a very good relationship. In fact there are rumors he proposed to her at a party in India last year.

Update (4/21): Today Priyanka posted on her Twitter page:
"Guys just to clarify things... Gerard Butler is not in Saat Khoon Maaf. I don't know where these fictional stories come out as news".

A Leprechaun

Gerard Butler could be seen playing a cheeky leprechaun in an upcoming all-star fantasy movie. The Scottish actor will be digitally shrunk for the as-yet-untitled film.

The film boasts a strong starcast, including Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet and Naomi Watts. And the plot sees Butler''s character being kidnapped by Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott''s on-screen baddies, who want to steal his treasure.

"I play the most perverse, disturbing, disgusting, foul-mouthed leprechaun you could ever imagine. I've been kidnapped by Johnny and Seann so they can get their pot of gold. But they don't quite realise what they've bargained for.”

Concent to Kill

Colin Farrell and Gerard Butler may be about to square off to land the role of a CIA counter terrorism agent in a new movie called "Consent to Kill"

The film is an adaptation of a book by crime novelist Vince Flynn, the first of eleven books that will be made into a kind of 'Bourne Identity" series of movies by CBS Films.

Butler is the current front runner but Farrell wowed CBS Films CEO Amy Baer as the star of S.W.A.T., a project she oversaw as a Columbia Pictures executive.

Butler is still considered a bigger box office bet because of the huge success of 300, but insiders say Farrell may get the movie role which could catapult him into the type of fame that Mat Damon has enjoyed as Bourne.

Training Day director Antoine Fuqua is set to direct "Consent to Kill."
